Recording Notes
The recordings move by subtraction, room, and pacing rather than heavy studio layering.
The Worship Pain recordings do not get heavier by stacking more layers on top. They get heavier by deciding what can be removed.
Method
The early material moves fast and leaves little extra in the frame. By the time of Pain As Teacher and Starless, Endless, the band is doing less in order to let the same weight sit longer.
What changed
Acts Of Worship is compact and immediate. Pain As Teacher opens the pacing without losing direct impact. Starless, Endless pushes that approach further by giving the riffs more cold air around them.
What stayed the same
The records still serve the live set. The tempos, the transitions, and the duration of each hit all still read like songs built to work in a room first.
